Domestic Furniture Brands Accelerate Layout in Overseas Markets, Southeast Asia Becomes Key Expansion Area

In recent years, domestic furniture enterprises have actively "gone global" and accelerated the layout of overseas markets. Among them, Southeast Asia has become a key expansion area due to its demographic dividend and market potential. Recently, "Kuka Home" announced the establishment of an overseas production base in Thailand, with a total investment of 500 million yuan. It is expected that after putting into production in 2025, the annual production capacity will exceed 1 million pieces, and the products will cover the Southeast Asian, South Asian and Australian markets.
According to incomplete statistics, in the first half of 2024, 15 leading domestic furniture enterprises have established production bases or sales centers in Southeast Asia, and the proportion of overseas revenue has increased to an average of 18%. The Southeast Asian market prefers cost-effective solid wood furniture and multi-functional sofas. Through localized design and supply chain optimization, domestic enterprises have significantly improved their product competitiveness. For example, in response to the humid climate in Southeast Asia, the moisture-proof solid wood furniture launched by enterprises has a market share of over 10% in Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries. Industry insiders said that the layout of the Southeast Asian market can not only reduce tariff costs, but also quickly respond to regional demand, laying a foundation for the global development of domestic furniture brands.
